Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about our insurance plans in Thailand.

General & Expat Health Insurance

Yes, foreigners living, working, or retiring in Thailand are fully eligible. You will generally need a copy of your passport and a valid visa. Some plans may require a medical questionnaire depending on your age and health history.

Most of our comprehensive health plans, such as iHealthy Ultra, accept new applicants up to 80 years old, and you can continuously renew the policy until age 99.

Yes, we offer specific plans that perfectly meet and exceed the minimum health insurance requirements mandated by Thai immigration for Long-Stay, Retirement, and LTR visas.

Standard policies generally exclude pre-existing medical conditions. However, full disclosure is required during application. The underwriting team will assess your condition and may offer coverage with a specific exclusion or an adjusted premium.

A waiting period is the time you must wait after buying the policy before you can claim. Usually, it is 30 days for general illnesses and 120 days for specific conditions like tumors, hernias, or cataracts. Accidents are covered immediately.

Claims & Hospital Visits

Yes. You can visit any hospital. However, visiting one of our extensive "Network Hospitals" (which includes most top private hospitals like Bumrungrad, Bangkok Hospital, Samitivej) allows you to use the cashless service.

Not if you visit a Network Hospital for an approved treatment. We use a Direct Billing (cashless) system. You only show your insurance care card/app, and the hospital bills us directly. You only pay for any excess amount not covered by your plan.

If you use a non-network facility, you will need to pay upfront, collect the original medical certificate and detailed receipt, and submit them to us for reimbursement.

Once all complete and correct documents are submitted, standard claims are usually processed and reimbursed within 7-15 working days.

No, a referral from a general practitioner is not mandatory in Thailand. You can book an appointment directly with a specialist at the hospital.

Car & House Insurance

Compulsory insurance is required by law and only covers basic medical expenses for injuries in an accident. Voluntary insurance (Class 1, 2+, 3) covers damage to vehicles, property, and offers much higher medical and liability coverage.

Yes. Class 1 insurance covers your vehicle for collisions with or without a third party (e.g., hitting a wall, pole, or fence), as well as fire, theft, and flood damage.

We simply need a clear photo of your car's registration book (Blue Book) and the details of your current policy (if any) to check for no-claim discounts.

While the building owner usually insures the structure, a renter’s insurance policy protects your personal belongings (electronics, jewelry, furniture) against theft, fire, and water damage, and provides personal liability coverage.

Yes, comprehensive home insurance policies include coverage for natural disasters such as floods, storms, and earthquakes. The specific limits will depend on the plan you choose.
